History of Holingsberg Fly Fishing

The two adjacent farms Elandslaagte portion 3 and Muriel was originally granted to Willem Ferdinand Vetsveldt on 30 October 1872. It was later sold to Maria Johanna Ahlers. Uitvlugt was originally granted to Hendrik Theodor Buhrmann on 20 January 1860 and later sold to Philip Jansen van Vuuren. Our grandfather bought fhe farms in 1946, and our father acquired them in 1971. They farmed extensively wjth sheep and cattle until 1992. Dewald and Jan Hattingh inherited the Elandslaagte/Muriel farms, and Holingsberg CC was registered in 1993. Uitvlugt was incorporated in Holingsbergsberg in April 2000 Various options were considered utilise these farms to their full potential. After considering all options it was concluded that ecotourism would be the best lomg and short-term investment with the smallest environmental impact.

Both farms are 350 hectares with beautiful indigenous grass veldt, flowers, birds and small game, ideal for the fly fisherman, nature lover or a family breakaway.

All accommodation is self catering, exclusive and fully equipped. Chalets are serviced and have braai facilities.
